Potbelly Sandwich Works was a favorite place of mine as a child. I still do! Live music, tiled booths and delicious food – what’s not to like? At eight years of age, I didn’t think about the nutritional content of my meals. Read more Potbelly nutrition facts here!
Looking back, it seems that I wouldn’t order the same thing I did as a child: an Italian sub with salami and mortadella, pepperoni and provolone, along with lettuce, oil, seasonings, and topped with a mocha milkshake. If I was lucky enough, I would get chips with my meal.
Potbelly can make some delicious dishes and sandwiches, but they can also be very unhealthy if you aren’t careful. Don’t worry. Potbelly makes eating healthy super simple. Here are some of my suggestions.
Potbelly Nutrition Facts Calculator
You can access the nutrition calculator by visiting the Potbelly website. It allows you to compare the nutritional values of all their products and can even show you how they stack up. It’s quite fun! Potbelly also displays caloric values in their menu boards.

Sandwiches
Although I still miss my Italian, I have moved on to better and bigger things. Well, smaller, actually! Potbelly has skinny sandwiches that are made with less meat and cheese, but still under 400 calories. You can get any sandwich made on the thin-cut bread, which is 1/3 smaller than the original. You can also choose the multigrain bread instead of the white bread.
The T-KY-Y is my favorite skinny: turkey breast with Swiss cheese. You can add a few toppings to make it even more delicious.
Salads
You can make a salad if you are feeling inspired. The salads featured here are all solid choices, with most of them featuring grilled chicken as your protein. To lighten the salad, stick to the vinaigrette. You can even find a nonfat vinaigrette. Thanks, Potbelly!
Soups
Potbelly soups should not be underrated. There are so many options. Their chili is my favorite. It is hearty, rich in protein, and delicious. Their soups are also very generous in size. There are three options: a regular bowl, cup or skinny pair. There are many options.
Shakes
Well, folks. Unfortunately, there’s no magical alternative to Potbelly’s magic shakes. It wouldn’t taste as good if there were an alternative. What are my thoughts? Instead of sharing a whole shake with your friend, share a shake.
Chips
It is difficult to pass a chip shelf and not say yes. These chips are the perfect accompaniment to a sandwich. Potbelly’s sells Baked Lays which are much lower in fats than other chips. Let’s continue.
There you have it. Potbelly offers many ways to eat. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t eat Italian or sea salt and vinegar chips. Moderation is key. Enjoy your food, but be mindful of what you eat.
